Custom Glass

Custom-cut glass measured and installed for doors, walls, partitions, tabletops, shelves, wine displays and other made-to-fit applications. Roble Glass & Railings is based in Vaughan and serves homes and businesses across Toronto and the GTA.

Measured for the Application

Custom Glass Solutions Made to Fit Your Space

Custom glass is prepared to project-specific dimensions, shapes and edge details instead of relying on a standard off-the-shelf panel. The intended use, opening, supporting surfaces, hardware, glass type, finish and installation conditions all influence the final specification.

Roble Glass & Railings plans and installs custom glass for renovations, new homes and selected commercial interiors. Our work includes interior glass doors, glass walls, room dividers, partitions, tabletops, shelves and wine display applications. Shower doors and wet-area systems are covered by our glass enclosure services, while made-to-measure reflective glass is covered by our custom mirror services.

Custom-Cut Glass Applications

Custom Glass Services

Each application requires different decisions about glass type, thickness, edges, hardware, support and daily use. We define those details around the project rather than treating every panel as the same product.

01

Custom Glass Doors

Interior glass doors can be planned as hinged, pivoting or sliding elements, depending on the opening, traffic path and available hardware. Clear, tinted or privacy-oriented glass can coordinate with dark, stainless or other compatible finishes.

02

Custom Glass Walls

Fixed glass walls preserve natural light while defining rooms, closets, studios and other interior zones. Panel divisions, joints, channels and connections are planned around the opening and surrounding walls, ceilings and floors.

03

Glass Partitions

Glass partitions create separation without the visual weight of a solid wall. They can be used in homes, offices, meeting areas, gyms and selected commercial interiors, with clear or privacy-oriented finishes chosen for the space.

04

Custom Glass Tabletops

A custom glass tabletop can protect an existing surface or form the visible top of a dining, coffee, console or office table. Shape, edge treatment, thickness, support and corner details are selected for the furniture and intended use.

05

Custom Glass Shelves

Cut-to-size glass shelves suit display areas, bars, kitchens, bathrooms, niches and cabinetry. Shelf dimensions, exposed edges, brackets, spacing and expected loads must be considered together before the glass is prepared.

06

Wine Cellar Glass

Glass walls and doors can showcase a wine collection while visually connecting it with the surrounding interior. Enclosure layout, door operation, seals, hardware and environmental requirements must be coordinated with the broader wine room design.

Glass Selection and Fabrication Details

Glass Types, Edges and Finishes

The correct custom glass specification depends on how the panel will be used, supported and handled. A door, shelf, tabletop and fixed wall do not necessarily require the same glass or edge treatment.

Tempered Glass

Tempered safety glass is commonly considered for doors, partitions, shelves, tabletops and other applications where strength and breakage behaviour matter. Required holes, notches and cutouts must be finalized before tempering because the finished panel cannot be recut on site.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass uses an interlayer that helps retain fragments if breakage occurs. It may be considered where retention, security, sound or another project-specific performance objective is important. Suitability must be confirmed for the application.

Clear, Tinted and Privacy Finishes

Clear glass maximizes visibility, while tinted, frosted or patterned options can introduce contrast or privacy. Availability, colour, opacity and compatibility with the selected system should be confirmed before the order is approved.

Polished Edges, Shapes and Cutouts

Exposed edges can be polished, while corners, curves, holes and notches are prepared from the approved measurements and hardware requirements. Accurate coordination is essential because small changes can affect fit, clearances and alignment.

Planned Around the Property

Residential and Commercial Custom Glass

Roble works with homeowners, contractors, builders and design professionals. Project scope is confirmed from the intended use, drawings, site readiness, access, glass requirements and the responsibilities of other trades.

01

Residential Interiors

Glass doors, closet walls, partitions, tabletops, shelves and display features can be measured around finished residential spaces, renovations and custom homes.

02

Office and Studio Partitions

Fixed panels, glass walls and doors can divide offices, meeting rooms, studios and work areas while allowing light to move through the interior.

03

Retail and Hospitality Interiors

Selected interior scopes can include display glass, shelves, dividers, wine features and other made-to-measure elements for retail, restaurant or hospitality environments.

04

Builder and Contractor Coordination

Plans, opening dimensions, finish schedules, hardware selections and installation sequencing can be reviewed with the project team before custom components are prepared.

05

Safety and Code Awareness

Glass type, support, hardware and installation details are considered for the actual use and location. Regulated work must follow applicable requirements and project approvals.

06

Defined Commercial Scope

This service focuses on custom interior glass installations. Storefront replacement, curtain wall, emergency glazing and automatic entrance systems require separate confirmation.

Requirements vary by application and occupancy. Review the current Ontario’s Building Code and confirm permits, professional design and approvals with the authority having jurisdiction for the project.

We discuss the application, design direction, property, schedule and available project information.

02

Site Review

We review the opening, surfaces, access, adjacent finishes and conditions that affect the glass.

03

Measurement

Project dimensions, angles, clearances and relevant hardware locations are confirmed for the layout.

04

Glass and Finish Selection

We define the proposed glass, edges, hardware, finish, included work and project estimate.

05

Custom Preparation

The glass and compatible components are prepared to the approved measurements and details.

06

Both Adrian and Adolfo were amazing to work with. They listened to what our vision was and provided a solution. It was not an easy railing as we had to reinforce the floor but the end result is amazing. We went from a wood post white railing to a stunning glass railing that is not only functional but an "art piece". You must call them for your next project - they will bring the result your looking for - they did for us!

I recently hired Roble for some work around my home, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their service. From the moment they arrived, it was clear that they valued professionalism and attention to detail. Not only did they complete the work I requested efficiently and with great care, they also went above and beyond by tightening all the handrails, which wasn’t even part of the job. The team left everything spotless, and their friendly demeanor made the whole experience enjoyable. I highly recommend Adrian and his team for anyone looking for reliable, high-quality service!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Roble Glass and Railings for installing glass railings on our front porch, back porch, and balconies, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From start to finish, their team was incredibly professional and attentive. They provided a comprehensive pre-project explanation, detailed drawings, and a virtual rendering, which greatly helped in visualizing the final outcome. Additionally, they offered competitive pricing compared to the three other quotes we received. They responded to my inquiries quickly and kept me informed throughout the process. The installation was smooth and efficient, and the results are nothing short of stunning. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend getting in contact with Adrian for anyone looking for top-notch glass railing solutions.

Roble Glass & Railings just completed a project in my home and I can't recommend them enough. From start to finish they were professional, good listeners and responsive. As we worked through the design phase for our small home, they were more than patient as I asked them for change after change until it was 'just so'. When it was time to instal, a full team arrived and completed the job in just a few hours! As our home is mid-reno, it's still unkempt, but they did a fairly good job of cleaning up afterwards. Thanks all!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Roble's professional team. As a general contractor, all we need is quality, timing, and professionalism, and I found all of these in this amazing team.
Adrian and the Roble Glass and Railings team provided exceptional service and craftsmanship. Their attention to detail and professionalism is admirable - in a nutshell, they cared about our project, which is hard to see these days with so many fly-by-night trades. Our mono-stringer stairs and glass railing were somewhat complicated, but the Roble Glass team did a fantastic job going through multiple design revisions to get it done right. Kudos to the team. The final result is stunning, and I highly recommend Roble Glass and Railings to anyone seeking meticulous quality, excellent service and flawless results. P.S. Adrian's referral for an unrelated trade turned out to be as good.

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom Glass FAQs

Practical answers about custom-cut glass, measurements, glass selection, fabrication details, installation and quoting.

What is custom-cut glass?

Custom-cut glass is prepared to project-specific dimensions, shapes and edge details for an intended application. It may include holes, notches, polished edges, tint or privacy finishes, depending on the glass type, hardware, support conditions and approved design.

Can custom glass be made to any size or shape?

Many rectangular, angled, curved and shaped panels are possible, but fabrication limits depend on the glass type, thickness, sheet size, edge treatment, cutouts, transportation, access and installation method. The requested dimensions and shape must be reviewed before availability is confirmed.

What is the difference between tempered and laminated glass?

Tempered glass is heat-treated to increase strength and change how it breaks. Laminated glass bonds layers with an interlayer that helps retain fragments after breakage. The appropriate type depends on the application, support, location and required performance.

Can Roble install custom glass doors, walls and partitions?

Yes. Roble installs selected custom glass doors, fixed walls and partitions for homes and commercial interiors. The opening, door movement, glass, hardware, supporting surfaces, privacy needs and responsibilities of other trades are reviewed before the scope is confirmed.

Can holes or notches be added after glass is tempered?

No. Tempered glass cannot be safely cut, drilled or notched after tempering. Hardware locations, holes, notches, corners and other fabrication details must be finalized before the panel is heat-treated, which is why accurate measurements and approvals are essential.

Do you provide both residential and commercial custom glass installation?

Yes. Roble works on residential projects and selected commercial interior installations. Commercial scope depends on the application, access, documentation, schedule, glass requirements and whether specialist systems or additional professional design are required.

How much does custom glass cost?

Cost depends on panel dimensions, glass type and thickness, shape, edge treatment, cutouts, hardware, finish, quantity, access and installation complexity. Share photos, approximate dimensions and the intended use for an initial discussion; final measurements are required before fabrication.

What information should I provide for a custom glass quote?

Send photos of the space, approximate width and height, the intended application, preferred appearance, inspiration images and any drawings or hardware information available. Also note whether surrounding walls, floors, cabinetry or other finishes are complete.
