Measured for the Finished Opening

Custom Glass Enclosures for Every Space

A custom glass enclosure uses made-to-measure glass panels, doors and project-specific hardware to define an area while preserving light and visibility. Unlike a stock kit, the enclosure is planned around the actual opening, wall conditions, clearances, intended use and surrounding finishes.

Roble Glass & Railings measures, coordinates and installs glass enclosure systems for homes, renovations and selected commercial interiors. Our work includes bathroom shower glass, bathtub enclosures, sauna glass, porch applications and enclosed office areas. For walls, partitions, doors, shelves and other cut-to-size applications outside this category, explore our custom glass services.

Residential and Commercial Applications

Glass Enclosure Services

Each enclosure is developed for its environment. Moisture, heat, exterior exposure, privacy, traffic, door movement and supporting surfaces all affect the appropriate glass, hardware and layout.

01

Glass Shower Enclosures

Custom glass shower enclosures can use frameless or semi-frameless layouts with hinged, sliding or fixed panels. Inline, corner, neo-angle and half-wall configurations are measured after tile and other finished surfaces are complete so the glass follows the actual opening.

02

Glass Shower Doors

A custom glass shower door may pivot from a wall, hinge from a fixed panel or travel on a sliding system. Door width, swing clearance, nearby fixtures, curb position and showerhead direction should be reviewed before the glass and hardware are finalized.

03

Glass Tub Enclosures

Glass tub enclosures replace a curtain with a custom panel, hinged bath screen or sliding glass door system. The layout is planned around the bathtub rim, wall surfaces, controls and entry space to improve water control without visually closing the bathroom.

04

Glass Porch Enclosures

Glass porch enclosures use transparent panels and coordinated framing or hardware to define an entrance or sheltered outdoor area while retaining exterior views. Site exposure, drainage, ventilation, existing structure and applicable approvals must be reviewed for each property.

05

Sauna Glass Enclosures

Sauna glass fronts, fixed panels and custom doors create a bright, visually open enclosure around a high-heat, high-humidity environment. Glass, clearances, door operation and hardware are selected for the layout and coordinated with the sauna contractor when required.

06

Office Glass Enclosures

Office glass enclosures define meeting rooms, private offices and work zones while helping daylight continue through the interior. Fixed glass, doors and adjacent custom glass walls or partitions can be coordinated as one project.

Plan Around Movement and Available Space

Glass Shower Enclosure Configurations

The right configuration depends on the shape of the shower, the number of open sides and the space available for entry. These are common starting points rather than fixed-size products.

01

Frameless Enclosures

Minimal visible framing keeps the glass visually light. Panels are supported by compatible hinges, clamps, channels and other project-specific hardware.

02

Inline Shower Glass

A door and one or more fixed panels align across a straight opening, often between two finished walls or along an alcove shower.

03

Corner and Neo-Angle

Return panels create a second glass side for corner layouts, while custom angles can work around compact or non-rectangular shower footprints.

04

Hinged and Pivot Doors

Swinging doors provide a wide opening when the bathroom layout offers suitable clearance from vanities, toilets, walls and nearby fixtures.

05

Sliding Shower Doors

Sliding systems avoid an outward door swing and can be useful where circulation space is limited or a wider opening needs two moving panels.

06

Fixed Panels and Bath Screens

A fixed walk-in panel or hinged tub screen can provide a simpler glass barrier where a fully enclosed shower or bathtub is not required.

Details That Affect Fit and Daily Use

Glass, Hardware and Water Management

Enclosure performance depends on more than the glass panel. Finished surfaces, openings, hardware, seals and water direction must be considered together before fabrication.

Safety Glass Selection

Tempered safety glass is commonly used for shower and door applications. The appropriate glass type and thickness depend on the panel size, support, hardware and intended use.

Hardware and Finishes

Hinges, pivots, clamps, U-channels, handles and towel bars can be coordinated with the bathroom fixtures or surrounding architectural finishes.

Seals, Sweeps and Silicone

Compatible seals and sweeps help manage water at moving joints, while silicone is used at selected fixed-glass connections and perimeter conditions.

Finished Surface Measurement

Tile, stone, curbs, tubs and walls should be complete before final measurement so the custom glass accounts for actual angles and out-of-plumb conditions.

Glass selection, installation details and any permit requirements must be confirmed for the specific project and municipality. See the official Ontario’s Building Code for current provincial information; project-specific interpretation should come from the appropriate qualified professional or local authority.

From Finished Conditions to Installation

Our Glass Enclosure Process

A clear sequence helps coordinate the opening, glass, hardware and adjacent finishes before made-to-measure components are prepared and installed.

01

Consultation

We discuss the enclosure type, room layout, preferred appearance, schedule and any available photos, plans or inspiration.

02

Site Readiness

We confirm which walls, tile, curbs, tubs, ceilings and other supporting surfaces must be complete before final measurement.

03

Final Measurement

The finished opening, angles, clearances and out-of-plumb conditions are measured for the proposed custom glass configuration.

04

Design and Quote

We define the layout, glass, door operation, hardware, finishes, included work and project-specific estimate.

05

Custom Preparation

Glass panels and compatible hardware are prepared to the approved dimensions and details for the enclosure.

06

Installation and Review

Our team installs the enclosure, adjusts moving components, applies required seals and reviews the completed work with you.

Both Adrian and Adolfo were amazing to work with. They listened to what our vision was and provided a solution. It was not an easy railing as we had to reinforce the floor but the end result is amazing. We went from a wood post white railing to a stunning glass railing that is not only functional but an "art piece". You must call them for your next project - they will bring the result your looking for - they did for us!

I recently hired Roble for some work around my home, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their service. From the moment they arrived, it was clear that they valued professionalism and attention to detail. Not only did they complete the work I requested efficiently and with great care, they also went above and beyond by tightening all the handrails, which wasn’t even part of the job. I recently had the pleasure of working with Roble Glass and Railings for installing glass railings on our front porch, back porch, and balconies, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From start to finish, their team was incredibly professional and attentive. They provided a comprehensive pre-project explanation, detailed drawings, and a virtual rendering, which greatly helped in visualizing the final outcome. Additionally, they offered competitive pricing compared to the three other quotes we received. They responded to my inquiries quickly and kept me informed throughout the process. The installation was smooth and efficient, and the results are nothing short of stunning. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend getting in contact with Adrian for anyone looking for top-notch glass railing solutions.

Roble Glass & Railings just completed a project in my home and I can't recommend them enough. From start to finish they were professional, good listeners and responsive. As we worked through the design phase for our small home, they were more than patient as I asked them for change after change until it was 'just so'. When it was time to instal, a full team arrived and completed the job in just a few hours! As our home is mid-reno, it's still unkempt, but they did a fairly good job of cleaning up afterwards. Thanks all!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Roble's professional team. As a general contractor, all we need is quality, timing, and professionalism, and I found all of these in this amazing team.
Adrian and the Roble Glass and Railings team provided exceptional service and craftsmanship. Their attention to detail and professionalism is admirable - in a nutshell, they cared about our project, which is hard to see these days with so many fly-by-night trades. Our mono-stringer stairs and glass railing were somewhat complicated, but the Roble Glass team did a fantastic job going through multiple design revisions to get it done right. Kudos to the team. The final result is stunning, and I highly recommend Roble Glass and Railings to anyone seeking meticulous quality, excellent service and flawless results. P.S. Adrian's referral for an unrelated trade turned out to be as good.

Frequently Asked Questions

Glass Enclosure FAQs

Answers to common questions about applications, shower layouts, safety glass, water control, measurement, cost and timing.

What types of glass enclosures does Roble install?

Roble Glass & Railings installs made-to-measure glass shower enclosures, glass shower doors, bathtub enclosures, sauna glass enclosures, glass porch enclosures and office glass enclosures. The available layout, glass and hardware depend on the intended use and site conditions.

What is the difference between frameless and semi-frameless shower glass?

A frameless shower uses glass panels supported mainly by discreet hinges, clamps, channels and related hardware, without a full metal frame around every panel. A semi-frameless system uses more visible framing or channels in selected areas. The right option depends on the opening, budget and desired appearance.

Do frameless glass shower enclosures leak?

Frameless shower enclosures are designed to manage normal water flow, but they are not fully watertight containers. Water control depends on floor and curb slope, drainage, showerhead direction, door placement, panel gaps, seals, sweeps and user behaviour. These conditions should be reviewed before the layout is finalized.

What glass thickness is used for a shower enclosure?

Glass thickness is selected according to the enclosure configuration, panel dimensions, glass type, hardware and support conditions. Frameless systems commonly require thicker safety glass than framed systems, but the correct specification must be confirmed for the individual project.

Can a glass enclosure be installed on a bathtub?

Yes. Depending on the bathtub and surrounding walls, a tub enclosure may use a fixed glass screen, a hinged bath screen or a sliding glass door system. The tub rim, controls, entry space and water direction must be reviewed before the configuration is selected.

When should a custom shower enclosure be measured?

Final measurement should normally take place after tile, stone, curbs, tubs and other surfaces that define the opening are complete. Measuring the finished conditions allows the custom glass to account for actual angles, clearances and walls that may not be perfectly plumb.

How much does a custom glass enclosure cost?

Cost depends on the enclosure type, number and size of panels, glass specification, door style, hardware, finishes, access and installation complexity. Photos and approximate dimensions can support an initial discussion, while final measurements are needed before custom fabrication is confirmed.

How long does a glass enclosure project take?

The schedule depends on site readiness, final measurement, design approval, glass preparation, hardware availability and installation complexity. Because each enclosure is made for a specific opening, the complete timeline includes more than the on-site installation visit.
